Models, Simulations, and Analogues

Models are examples of things that you cannot bring into class to show. In class, we used candy to show different types of rock.

Heath Bars simulate igneous extrusive rocks. They have small "crystals". It cooled so quickly that you can't see the crystals.

Rice Krispy treats simulate detrital sedimentary rocks. The detrital rocks (Rice Krispies) are held together by marshmallows.

Butterfingers simulate phyllite. The layers are pretty easy to see.
